Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

Service Description

Class is held over the weekend: Friday through Sunday. Friday 5-9 (I will contact you to take the pre-course swimming assessment requirements* to make sure you are strong enough to be a Lifeguard), Saturday 8-5 and Sunday 8-5. This class comes in a blended learning component of 6 hours which will be emailed to you 10 days before the class. This class will provide participants the skills and knowledge needed to become a lifeguard at non-waterfront pools per the American Red Cross curriculum. Successful participants will be granted a two-year Lifeguard Certificate. The class includes First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (CPRO) *Pre-course requirements: 150 yard swim (no back stroke or side stroke) right into a 2 minute tread (no hands), then swim a 50 yards. While swimming, you must swim continuously, keeping your face in the water and demonstrating good breath control (goggles allowed). A timed event including getting a ten pound weight from the bottom of the pool, 40 yard swim and exiting the water, Pricing: $250 to take the course; $150 if you choose to work as a lifeguard at the YWCO pool. You pay a deposit of $150 online, and you can pay the rest by invoice or in person at the YWCO. Must be 15 years old to register.
